Overview

FlatPrice ("we", "our", "the app") is a physical cargo calculator for oil and petroleum products. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

• Product selections, density values, and price inputs
• Market comparison entries (ports, prices, costs)
• Daily price history snapshots
• Voyage estimate settings (ports, speed)
• App preferences (theme, default product, display units)

Anonymous Usage Analytics

To understand which features are used and improve the app, FlatPrice sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, hosted in the European Union. These events are not linked to your identity and are not used to track you across other apps or websites.

What is sent:

• Which screens and features you use (e.g. Cargo, Market, FX, Voyage tabs; sharing; import/export)
• Your selections, not your numbers: product name, units, FX currency and voyage ports chosen
• Basic technical information: app version, operating system, device type (phone or tablet), language and time-zone settings, the country of your App Store account, and a random identifier created on install

What is never sent: prices, differentials, quantities, cargo values, FX rates, market history, anything you type into the app, or your location. IP addresses are discarded and not stored.

You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage stats. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.

Website (flatprice.app)

Our website uses PostHog in cookieless mode to count page visits; see which sites, ads or campaign links referred visitors; measure how far down the page visitors read, which sections they reach and how long they stay; and count clicks on links such as the App Store button. It also records the browser's language, time zone and device type. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device; visitors are counted using a privacy-preserving hash computed on PostHog's EU servers, and IP addresses are not stored.

Fonts and scripts are served from flatprice.app itself, so visiting the site does not contact Google or other third-party servers (apart from PostHog, and Google Ads only if you accept advertising cookies).

To measure our advertising, the website can also use the Google Ads conversion tag. Advertising cookies are only set if you choose Accept in the cookie bar; if you decline or make no choice, Google receives only cookieless signals without identifiers. You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of the home page. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses advertising data.

Third-Party Services

FlatPrice uses the following third-party services:

• RevenueCat — Manages subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat may collect anonymous purchase data and device identifiers. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• PostHog — Anonymous product analytics, as described above. Data is processed on PostHog's EU servers.
• Exchange Rate API (open.er-api.com) — We fetch live FX rates from this free API. No personal data is sent; only a currency code request is made.
• Apple App Store / Google Play — Handle payment processing for subscriptions. Subject to their respective privacy policies.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personal information (name, email, phone number)
• The app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites
• We do not collect the prices, quantities or values you enter
• We do not collect location data
• We do not serve advertisements
• We do not share or sell any user data

Purchases

FlatPrice is currently free. If paid features are offered, purchases are handled through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is processed entirely by Apple/Google. We do not have access to your payment details.

Data Retention

Anonymous usage events are retained by PostHog for analysis and are not linked to you. All calculation data and price history is stored locally on your device. You can clear your history at any time from within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

Children's Privacy

FlatPrice is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
